First Week of the New Store!

Well the title pretty much sums it up! I have a sparkly new Etsy store called Chibi-Chi Designs, it is the place that I am selling all my beautiful silhouette related crafts. I started with a facebook page last Sunday and it has become quite the success!

I had more sales in my first week, then in my first few months with the jewellery store! And truth be told, it is my new favourite craft. There is something so satisfying about weeding out paper to reveal a unique papercut.

Our best seller has been our 'Love You to the Moon & Back' cards, which I originally designed to give to my lovely husband for Valentines.

I know that technically I'm biased, but I really do love this little cutie! A wonderful person ordered the card in pastel blue and white, it was adorable - I really love that colour combination!

Through the facebook page I have had two orders for papercuts. The first is for our personalized family tree

and the second is for a lovely family sentiment quote that is being purchased as a wedding gift!

I am also working on some custom name plaques for two very sweet little children - I am looking forward to stocking those!

As always, I have a huge mental list of things I want to make and sell including a vinyl silhouette of a working cuckoo clock (mainly because I want one!), a cute framed initial tote bag and a wonderful invention of a icing stencil for cookies and gingerbread!

We also have a bit of a backlog of items that need to be photographed and added to the store! This is a full time job in itself, but to help save for the new house I have started a long term placement which is a Monday to Friday job. There are simply not enough hours in the day!

I started dying my hair at the grand old age of 15 - fast forward to 12 years later and my hair has become a dried out mop of horror. From the moment I purchased my Silhouette Cameo I was in love. The only way I could justify the cost was to start up a business , the only problem with this was the cost of the blades. I was getting through a blade every few weeks, at just under £16.00 (including postage) for a single blade it was getting very expensive. I knew that once business picked up I was going to either have to increase prices (never a good idea for new businesses) or take a big knock in profits.
